Shopify category attributes for Hair Care

In Shopify's standard product taxonomy, Hair Care sits at Health & Beauty > Personal Care > Hair Care. Once a product has this category, Shopify shows the attributes below in the product editor. Filled attributes are structured facts — AI shopping assistants and Shopify's own search and filters can use them to match a shopper's question without guessing from your text.

The 12 attributes for Hair Care

• Age group — Defines the target age range for a product, such as adults or kids
  Examples: 0-6 months, 6-12 months, 1-2 years, Adults, All ages, Babies, Kids, Newborn (12 values in total)
• Application type — Indicates whether the treatment is left in or rinsed out and any special usage mode
  Examples: Heat-activated, Leave-in, Overnight treatment, Pre-wash, Rinse-out, Other
• Conditioner effect — Defines the benefits of a hair conditioner, such as smoothing or anti-dandruff
  Examples: Anti hair loss, Anti-dandruff, Anti-frizz, Cleansing, Color protection, Densifying, Detangling, Moisturizing (20 values in total)
• Fragrance — Defines if a product is scented or not, e.g. floral, unscented
  Examples: Aquatic, Cherry, Cinnamon, Citrus, Eucalyptus, Floral, Fresh, Fresh linen (24 values in total)
• Hair care finish — Defines the final look or texture of hair after use, e.g. shiny, matte
  Examples: Glossy, Matte, Shiny, Other
• Hair type — Classifies products based on specific hair types or conditions, such as curly or dry
  Examples: Curly, Dry, Normal, Straight, Wavy, Other
• Material — Defines a product's primary material, such as cotton or wool
  Examples: Acrylic, Aluminum, Angora, Bamboo, Biodegradable materials, Brass, Bronze, Canvas (82 values in total)
• Product certifications & standards — Indicates the certifications or standards a product meets, such as organic or cruelty free
  Examples: Alcohol-free, All-natural ingredients, Aluminum-free, ASC, B corporation, Biodegradable, BPA-free, CE certified (56 values in total)
• Product form — Defines the format or presentation of a product, typically for health and beauty; e.g. lotion, serum
  Examples: Cream, Cream-to-powder, Film, Foam, Foaming lotion, Gel, Kohl, Liquid (29 values in total)
• Suitable for hair type — Specifies the hair needs a product is designed for, e.g. curly, fine
  Examples: All hair types, Bleached, Blonde, Brittle, Brunette, Colored, Combination, Curly (30 values in total)
• Target gender — Identifies the intended gender for a product, such as female, male or unisex
  Examples: Female, Male, Unisex, Other
• Treatment type — Specifies the method of treatment, typically for hair loss treatments; e.g. laser, topical
  Examples: Laser, Oral, Topical, Other

More specific categories

Shopify recommends the most specific category that fits. Under Hair Care you can choose: Hair Care Kits, Hair Color, Hair Color Removers, Hair Coloring Accessories, Hair Loss Concealers, Hair Loss Treatments, Hair Permanents & Straighteners, Hair Shears, Hair Steamers & Heat Caps, Hair Styling Products, Hair Styling Tool Accessories, Hair Styling Tools. A more specific category can come with more attributes.

How to fill them

1. Open the product in Shopify admin → Category → choose Hair Care (or a more specific one).
2. The category's attributes appear below it. Pick values that are true for the product — for example, the colors you actually sell.
3. Only fill what you know. An empty attribute is better than a wrong one.

Many attributes are already in your store in another form: your variant options ("Color: Black, Olive") or words in your title and description ("100% cotton"). Listproof reads those and suggests the matching attribute values for you to approve — it never fills an attribute that isn't supported by your own product details.
