Shopify category attributes for Skin Care

In Shopify's standard product taxonomy, Skin Care sits at Health & Beauty > Personal Care > Cosmetics > Skin Care. Once a product has this category, Shopify shows the attributes below in the product editor. Filled attributes are structured facts — AI shopping assistants and Shopify's own search and filters can use them to match a shopper's question without guessing from your text.

The 18 attributes for Skin Care

• Active ingredient — Identifies primary substances in personal care items, e.g. vitamin A, retinol
  Examples: Aloe vera, Caffeine, CBD, Ceramides, Collagen, Green tea extract, Hemp oil, Hyaluronic acid (15 values in total)
• Age group — Defines the target age range for a product, such as adults or kids
  Examples: 0-6 months, 6-12 months, 1-2 years, Adults, All ages, Babies, Kids, Newborn (12 values in total)
• Alcohol/Solvent content — Classifies the product based on alcohol or solvent content for shipping and regulatory purposes (e.g., alcohol ≤24%, alcohol >24%, solvent small container)
  Examples: Alcohol >24%, Alcohol ≤24%, Solvent - large container (>1L), Solvent - small container (≤1L), Other
• Cosmetic function — Defines the intended benefit or effect of a cosmetic product, e.g. soothing, healing
  Examples: Anti-aging, Brightening, Cleansing, Exfoliating, Healing, Hydrating, Hydration, Moisturizing (14 values in total)
• Dispenser type — Specifies the format for dispensing the product, typically in health and beauty; e.g. stick, jar
  Examples: Ampoule, Bottle, Box, Can, Capsules, Case, Jar, Palette (21 values in total)
• Fragrance — Defines if a product is scented or not, e.g. floral, unscented
  Examples: Aquatic, Cherry, Cinnamon, Citrus, Eucalyptus, Floral, Fresh, Fresh linen (24 values in total)
• Fragrance level — Specifies the scent intensity of a product, e.g. unscented, lightly scented
  Examples: Fragrance-free, Lightly scented, Other
• Ingredient origin — Specifies the source of product ingredients, e.g. natural, synthetic
  Examples: Natural, Synthetic, Other
• Material — Defines a product's primary material, such as cotton or wool
  Examples: Acrylic, Aluminum, Angora, Bamboo, Biodegradable materials, Brass, Bronze, Canvas (82 values in total)
• Moisturizer type — Identifies the usage time of the moisturizer, like all day or night care
  Examples: All day, Day care, Night care, Other
• Package type — Defines the type of packaging for a product, e.g. jar, pump
  Examples: Bag, Bottle, Box, Can, Canister, Case, Dispenser, Flip-top (27 values in total)
• Product certifications & standards — Indicates the certifications or standards a product meets, such as organic or cruelty free
  Examples: Alcohol-free, All-natural ingredients, Aluminum-free, ASC, B corporation, Biodegradable, BPA-free, CE certified (56 values in total)
• Product form — Defines the format or presentation of a product, typically for health and beauty; e.g. lotion, serum
  Examples: Cream, Cream-to-powder, Film, Foam, Foaming lotion, Gel, Kohl, Liquid (29 values in total)
• Skin care effect — Defines the intended benefits of skin care products, e.g. anti-aging, plumping
  Examples: Anti-acne, Anti-aging, Anti-bacterial, Anti-blackhead, Anti-blemish, Anti-cellulite, Anti-dark circle, Anti-dark spot (83 values in total)
• Skin care features — Identifies the benefits of skin care items, such as long lasting or UVA/UVB protection
  Examples: Durable, Easy to apply, Fast acting, Long lasting, Moisturizing, Neutral pH, Non-greasy, Soothing (11 values in total)
• Suitable for skin type — Specifies products for specific skin conditions, such as dry, aging, or sensitive
  Examples: Aging, All skin types, Combination, Demanding, Dry, Mature, Normal, Oily (16 values in total)
• Target gender — Identifies the intended gender for a product, such as female, male or unisex
  Examples: Female, Male, Unisex, Other
• UVA protection grade — Indicates the UVA protection rating of the product, commonly expressed as PA grades
  Examples: Not rated, PA+, PA++, PA+++, PA++++, Other

More specific categories

Shopify recommends the most specific category that fits. Under Skin Care you can choose: Acne Treatments & Kits, After-Sun Skin Care, Anti-Aging Skin Care, Body Butters & Balms, Body Oil, Body Powder, Compressed Skin Care Mask Sheets, Eye Creams, Face Moisturizers, Face Serums, Facial Cleansers, Facial Cleansing Kits. A more specific category can come with more attributes.

How to fill them

1. Open the product in Shopify admin → Category → choose Skin Care (or a more specific one).
2. The category's attributes appear below it. Pick values that are true for the product — for example, the colors you actually sell.
3. Only fill what you know. An empty attribute is better than a wrong one.

Many attributes are already in your store in another form: your variant options ("Color: Black, Olive") or words in your title and description ("100% cotton"). Listproof reads those and suggests the matching attribute values for you to approve — it never fills an attribute that isn't supported by your own product details.
